There's the issue of the militants. Guess what? The Nigerian army has moved in against them. Some people say the country is finally imploding on itself. I've said that for years...

Nkem, I told like the self-congratulatory tone of 'I've said that for years'.
So what! Bloomin' heck - Nigeria is going through a really bad patch and if you care about the nation at all, bloomin' get off your backside and pray to your God.
I really don't like the self-congratulatory tone, I really don't. And I'm worried about Nigeria. Really worried.
Soheb, if you really dont like Nkems self congratulatory tone and if you care about Nkem, then get off your back side and go pray to your own God. Nkem can write or say whatever he wants. Whose blog is it anyway? Damn!
Of all the prayers that have been prayed in the Nigeria since they - Nigerians - began to wear white garments and spend all their time in churches, mosques and worship temples; fasting and holding night vigils, worshipping like it is going out of fashion - someone from Mars would think their god is deaf and doing nothing.
Methinks, they are praying amiss, else a good few prayers about Nigeria should have been answered by now and we should be rejoicing with thanksgiving not despairing because of the foreboding of unrest and trouble.
This is Nkem's opinion. He in entitled to it. This is the problem with Naija people....they can not accept and respect other people's views....very reflect of our politicians attitudes.
@ Soheb, I totally see your point. It is very disappointing that African Shirts would talk about Nigeria imploding in such a casual way
Anyway sha me I dey pray oh. And at Akin, Our God is not dead oh or else Nigeria would be in a worse situation with Abacha still ruling. As far as I am concerned God answers prayers and is answering the prayers of Nigerians for Nigeria.
Nigeria is not finally imploding on itself. We have a magnitude of problems but that is not to conclusively say the polity is imploding on itself. The problems we have are not "unsolveable". We just have not been able to find the right leadership (and this is not only political leadership; it includes religious leadership. These militants have leaders) to help us deal with the problems and to re-orientate the national psyche beyond resorting to massive treasury looting and violence.
Believe me, Nkem, you are wrong. The Nigerian state is not that fragile. It won't self-implode and your prediction will come to naught.
No greater misfortune can befall a people than to be in denial - ignoring the realities on the ground for interminable hope without properly addressing contemporary issues does not help any situation. It creates worry and anxiety eventually.
I did not say God is dead, I was questioning the connection between what prayers have been said and what the results are.
However, if you find solace in the idea that Nigeria is a lot better than expected, then that is your prerogative.
I seem to think II Chronicles 7:14 promises a lot more for a lot less. Hey! that is just an opinion.
...no I don't think Nigeria will implode (or explode for that matter), but yes, our people have to learn how to take their own destinies in their own hands. God won't come down from heaven to help us.

Nkem,
I agree with you.
Nkem can say or write whatever he wants; but then so can I. Great isn't it - the blogosphere :)
Thanks for the reminder, grace and moody crab. I am/will be praying to my God, incidentally the same as Nkem's.
Best wishes.
xx
there are times when i read this blog and wonder if the author is still Nigerian??

Going by the above comments, Africanshirts may be correct. Nigeria is finally imploding on itself with many false movements.

Heaven helps those who help themselves.
