Bad luck for Goodluck's wife

When DSP Alamaramalamadingdong (Nigeria's erstwhile female governor) got impeached last year, his deputy Goodluck Jonthan said, "I enjoined my fellow Bayelsans, and indeed all people of the south, not to be dampened by the sad events of the recent past. On the contrary, I urge old and young to use this incident to reposition the state for a better future." That was part his inauguration speech. He was obviously "repositioning" himself and his family.

Today, officials say they've seized $13.5m from Mr Jonathan's wife. Less than a year after he became governor, and his wife can afford to buy a learjet...

Sad.

Should I point this out to my brothers of 'Niger-Delta' origin, I'd have my head chewed off...

Why do Nigerians tend to go on the defensive when issues that are peculiar to their own tribe, are being addressed?

You wanna know something though Nkem....

Asmuch as this is crazy, insane and completely indefensible.

They are being caught!.
Wow. you know 10 years ago, this would just be business as usual. No one would dear say a word.
At least one part of the machinery seems to be doing something, but now the other parts need to be tightened up.
But how do you force accountability from state goveners who hold the purse strings when Naija is a country that is largely irresponsible and with very lax accountability?

I really don't know what to say, honestly. I can only pray that things change but how can things changes when people my age (younger generation)are thinking of the same thing... eating their own share of the national cake. Really sick!!

Besides, they've not been there for a long time and yet....

@ Sokari, I hope you are one of the few reasonable ones. Our country needs all the reasonable people we can get our hands on.

I think these would make nice reading for y'all...

After what happened to DSP, Jonathan and his wife decided to tow the same line! I could say out loud 'disgraceful' but thats the bane of politics in Nigeria. Its all about each person getting his or her own share of the neverending 'National Cake'.
They deserve whatever comes their way if they were laundering money truly because they walked into this with their eyes open after seeing all what DSP did.
Will there ever be a revival and total overhaul of the 'National Cake' syndrome in Naija?
